Edmodo is a secure and controlled social networking platform for students and teachers.
|
In the Language Arts classroom, Edmodo was the students’ platform for online discussions and literature circle groups. Small groups were formed for literature circles and other classroom discussions. Their warm-ups, quizzes, website links, and worksheets were housed here. They turned in writing assignments online and received annotated feedback from their teacher all through Edmodo.
When the students ‘met’ their overseas friends in Hong Kong, an additional group was formed for this collaboration and communication to take place. |
My sheltered ELL class consisted of 8 students with WIDA scores ranging from a 1.1 to a 4.3. Through this medium, I wanted to give the students an opportunity to use technology for communication. If they were struggling, I wanted them to see what and how others were writing.
